Ironworks

EXPO FERRAGENS 2The Museum collection of artistic ironworks constitutes the testimony of the previous important activity of the blacksmiths, who masterly forged decorative pieces and utensils, as it is still done to-day, and one can also observe the numerous existing ironworks locking devices of doors and building windows in the historical center of town.

Latches and escutchions in coffers and doors of the XVI and XVII centuries, artistically worked sets of knockers and door-handles, as well as locks and escutcheons – hearts and bird heads, diamond shapes, jars, flowers – and padlocks of different shapes, which were being used until the XIX century, as well as other utensils and iron instruments of work.
